ROSTOCK was a Ukrainian-flagged ship that foundered and sank in the Sulina branch of the Danube river, near the village of Partizani on September 2, 1991.<\/p>\n

The wreck took more than 14 years to surface, and the operation ended on 3 November 2005. During this time, the river traffic on the Sulina branch was severely affected. The partial blockage of the navigable canal of the Sulina branch forced large tonnage ships to pass through the Danube-Black Sea Canal, for which the transit fees charged by the Romanian state are higher. <\/p>\n

Attempts to remove the wreck also cost the lives of two divers.<\/p>\n

Independence Monument – Tulcea<\/h3>\n

The cornerstone of the Monument was laid in October 1879 during the visit of the Romanian ruler Carol I of Hohenzolern, accompanied by Mihail Kog\u0103lniceanu, General Medic Carol Davila, and Dimitrie Lecca, Minister of War. On that day, at the base of the foundation, Carol Davila\u2019s decorations were buried together with a parchment. <\/p>\n

The inauguration of the monument took place in the presence of the royal family on May 2, 1904. The Independence Monument is located on Monument Hill and is surrounded by a beautiful landscaped park. <\/p>\n

Museum of Natural Sciences Danube Delta and Tulcea Aquarium<\/h4>\n

The museum, also known as the Danube Delta Museum, presents the most important species of flora and fauna characteristic of the main ecosystem of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. Therefore, before traveling to the Danube Delta, a visit to this museum is recommended.
